Autonomys x University of Kansas Blockchain Institute: Onboarding the Next Generation of AI3.0 Developers

Share to Socials

Autonomys is pleased to announce our support and sponsorship of the University of Kansas Blockchain Institute (KUBI), a student-led initiative under KU’s Institute for Information Sciences (I2S) focused on interdisciplinary research, education, and blockchain development and adoption. Autonomys and KUBI will provide members with educational and technical resources, and collaborate on hackathons, developer workshops, and hands-on learning experiences that empower students to engage with AI and blockchain technologies.

Key Aspects of the Sponsorship

  • Midwest Block-a-Thon: Autonomys is supporting KUBI’s Midwest Block-a-Thon, the first-ever blockchain-focused hackathon hosted at the University of Kansas. The hackathon will bring together 200+ hackers and community members to explore web3 development, receive mentorship from industry experts, and compete for major prizes, as part of our Aurora Buildathon. Autonomys is sponsoring the Unstoppable Data for AI track, challenging participants to build experiences that leverage Autonomys’ permanent distributed storage network (DSN). For full details, visit the Autonomys Midwest Block-a-Thon Hacker’s Guide.
  • Fostering Innovation & Collaboration: KUBI’s dynamic, research-driven community will bring fresh perspectives and emerging talent to the web3 x AI space. Their interdisciplinary approach to blockchain adoption, decentralized governance, and smart contract development strengthens Autonomys’ mission by nurturing a new generation of builders who will undoubtedly shape the future of decentralized infrastructure. KUBI will play an important role in expanding awareness, increasing adoption, and contributing technically to the Autonomys ecosystem.
  • AI3.0 Developer & Farmer Onboarding: As well as learning how to build AI3.0 dApps and agents with the Auto SDK and Auto Agents Framework, KUBI members will gain access to yield-bearing opportunities within Autonomys, including running a farmer node through Space Acres — our lightweight, multi-platform farming app — and staking $AI3 as a nominator via our Astral web app. These opportunities enable them to earn $AI3 while deepening their understanding of web3 and actively contributing to the network’s decentralization, growth, and security — all without the need for expensive hardware.
“KU Blockchain Institute is grateful for Autonomys’ support in empowering next-gen blockchain developers. We’re incredibly excited to create a space for beginners to explore the technologies shaping our future while building innovative projects. I can’t wait to see the AI3.0 projects built on Autonomys!” Micah Borghese, President of KU Blockchain Institute

“We’re thrilled to sponsor the web3 AI track at the first annual Midwest Block-a-Thon at the University of Kansas. Alongside fellow sponsors like Ripple, Pinata, Dabl.club, and Sonic, we’re excited to empower the next generation of builders, futurists, and innovators. We’re proud to provide access to Autonomys’ permanent, immutable storage, developer SDK, and AI agent framework — equipping them with all the resources they need to participate and lead in a decentralized future where data serves as the foundation for intelligent AI systems — one that is open, transparent, and unstoppable.”
Amik Ahmad, Head of Product at Autonomys
